Our Mission

e6 exists to support artists in developing rigorous, independent practices within an accessible environment grounded in mutual support. We are committed to:

  • Providing sustainable, high-quality studio space

  • Fostering peer-led critique and mentorship

  • Supporting artistic risk-taking and research

  • Creating opportunities for public engagement

  • Strengthening Austin’s contemporary arts ecosystem

Our mission is rooted in the belief that artists play a vital role in shaping how communities think, gather, and imagine the future. Supporting art means investing in the cultural health and identity of a city.

Our Approach

e6 is built on a balance of independence and shared responsibility. It is an experimental, artist-led space where residents inspire, challenge, and learn from one another. Guided by openness and curiosity, we emphasize collaboration and creative risk-taking. As a community, we value generosity over hierarchy.

Behind The Scenes

Jordan Nelsen - Director

Jordan is an arts administrator with nearly 15 years of experience developing programs and platforms that connect artists and audiences through meaningful, community-centered experiences. Her work centers on the idea that art creates space for dialogue, connection, and cultural exchange.

Her curatorial and public programming experience has been shaped through leadership roles at major arts organizations including Women & Their Work, Big Medium, the Elisabet Ney Museum, and Art Austin.

Mark Hilton - Founder

Mark is an artist with extensive experience in international residencies and a critical perspective on the cost and value of formal arts education. He is interested in building an alternative, community-based model that emphasizes shared resources, mutual support, and genuine creative exchange. Through e6 he aims to create a more sustainable and equitable environment for creative practice.
