The program is open to professional visual artists, 21 years or older who live in the US, as well as artists that have accredited credentials to reside in the US during the residency. Applicants may not be enrolled in any degree program, participate in a separate outside studio or work full time. Formal art education is not a prerequisite; instead, we are looking for commitment to time spent in the studio.
Estudiosix is located in the historic district of Old 6th in downtown Austin.
Studios are located on the ground and first floors and are accessible through the front and rear of the building. Each studio has Wi-Fi, is private, has high ceilings and is lockable, with each resident having their own key. Communal spaces include an outdoor courtyard, kitchen, slop sinks, restrooms, and a gallery for tutorials and exhibitions. HVAC and janitorial are included. Studio access is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
estudiosix operates on a single, standardized residency fee of $250/month to support an equitable and artist-focused environment across the program.
Residents are responsible for their own housing. Studios have a no-accommodation policy.
Yes there is dedicated onsite parking behind the complex.
Work that involves high levels of noise, overt toxic fumes, or fire risk are not permitted in the studios.
No. The studios are intended for the artists awarded and selected by the jury.
There is a $15 administration fee for this residency
This is a peer led studio program - for artists by artists. The intention is for residents to immerse themselves within the program and engage in critical dialogue. This will include, not limited to,

Minimum presence at the program of 20 hours per week in the studio.

Atleast one outfacing presentation of their practice through a talk, discussion, presentation.

Atleast one internal studio visit with residents and attend fellow resident presentations.
